The pavilion will have different levels for each part of the building: the exhibition areas are 12m high, while the adjacent spaces are 8m high. Ring corridors, accessible from ramps and stairs, are located at the mid-height of the main exhibition areas, located 6m above the floor, offering a 360 degree view of the ocean on one side and a main exhibition view on the other. With its arrangement of connected circles, the building represents the molecular structure of water. Each component responds to a programmatically defined requirement with three main lines connecting the pavilion to the rest of the facilities on the mainland. The volumes are wrapped with a versatile skin system that responds to the periodic and wave movements of the ocean.
It can move up as well as down, depending on the water level, creating a dynamic atmosphere of tidal movement. The inner blinds of the façade are mounted on glass, while the outer blinds float on the water, becoming a unique element that moves and changes without consuming energy. The hierarchical representation of the two osmotic systems gives an image of the building of respiration.
